I've been up in Rochester since September, and our director was not so good about updating the calendar page, although he's been working on the rest of the site quite regularly. Now I'm back and perhaps we can get some events listed up there.

Fred has spent the last few days fixing the old pages so they link properly to the new index page and work with the frames. We have almost 800 pages!

The power has been off at the Concept center for the past few weeks. Luckily, we have had a very mild winter so far. Apparently the army believes that the best way to preserve buildings is to leave them without power or water.

Saturday, October 18th is Archives day where most of the Monmouth County historical societies have tables
highlighting their history. If you like local history this is alot of fun. You get to meet dedicated people who freely give of their time to save their towns' history. You will see many interesting publications to purchase on local history not found on Amazon.com.

Infoage will have a table. If you would like to do table time, please let me know. This is at least the third year we have had a table. Each year this event gets larger and larger.

From our director:

This Sunday at 1:30PM we are having visitor
greeting training. The goal is for each member organization to send a
represenative or two to learn the ins and outs of greeting visitors at
the cottage and our message. We will create a rotation schedule and
each organization will take a Sunday and act of visitor hosts.

This Tuesday at 7PM is our August Board meeting. The Army has
renewed our lease and given us written permission for "museum
activities" on site. This removes some obsticles. Plus the Army
insists there will be a transfer of the Diana Site, cottages and
possibly the Marconi hotel and library this (yes this) October.

Tuesday the 12th Connie Zimmerman's ICON high-school age students's
visited Camp Evans. Everything was excellent. Everyone had a nice
time and the students learned a little of their Monmouth County heritage.
Plus Connie served a enjoyable lunch. A vision of things to come, many
buses and many students and families.

So start getting excited again. The summer heat will be gone in a
few weeks and we can get to work. We will focus on the Diana site and
the NBHF cottage and grounds.

We will have a compact board meeting this Tuesday, the 29th. We will start at 6:45PM and end at 7:55PM. Commitees can then meet.

OMARC 2003 Technician Theory, Morse Code classes and VE Testing schedule.

OMARC sponsored Amateur Radio Technician theory classes will again commence beginning Tuesday, September 16th 2003 at 6:00pm with orientation at the Diana site. These classes will run through November with completion in time for the December
VE test.

All classes and VE Testing will be held at the InfoAge Center OMARC Diana site,
building 9116 on Marconi Road, Wall Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey.

All classes will be begin promptly each Tuesday night during the duration of the course.

Morse Code classes will begin Tuesday, September 30th 2003 at 6:30p.m.

The course outline will be Technician Class studies with the option of Morse
Code classes currently provided. Study materials required will be the latest
copy of the ARRL "Now You're Talking" which are available direct from the
ARRL or OMARC.

VE Schedule: VE test sessions will be held at the Diana site every other month
during 2003 and 2004 per the schedule below. These VE sessions will be open to
the general public and will begin promptly at 10:00a.m. at the Diana site.

All applicants should arrive by at least 9:45am to complete paper work. Applicants
with special requirements are asked to make contact prior to the VE session.

station of the Belmar-New Brunswick pair of NJ stations. Please add a
link to the Camp History page where you feel it should go. A fellow
emailed me to ask if we had photos of the NB station. I told him if he
would join I would use that as an excuse to put the photos on the
website. The check arrived the other day.

Despite how quiet the website has been, things have been going on at Infoage. Today and Thursday the New Jersey Antique Radio club will be out fixing up the other cottage. We've had a garden club visiting and more talk about land transfers. Hopefully I'll have more info on all of this soon.

On Saturday, April 26th, the Alpha Pi Theta Honor Society will be hosting Community Day at Brookdale Community College. This free event will go from 9am to 6pm and will have music and entertainment for all ages. Alpha Pi Theta is currently seeking vendors for the event. Spaces are $20 for students, $25 for faculty and staff, and $30 for the community. Double spaces are $30 for students, $35 for faculty and staff, and $40 for the community. Alpha Pi Theta will use proceeds from the event to fund scholarships and volunteer work within the community (they gave us funding for the Black History Mural). There's a new version of The Lone Ranger on TV Wednesday night at 9pm on the WB. It should be interesting to see a modern take on the NBHF classic we're familiar with.

The calendar has just been updated. As you can see, OMARC has been much better at getting their information to me than our other partner organizations.

I've been busy working on a black history mural with help from the Alpha Pi Theta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and the Brookdale Art Club and neglecting the webpage a bit. However, I've noticed that I haven't been changing the "last updated" date on the menu bar.

Once again I'm reminding everyone to renew their memberships and asking for new members to join. Rumors are saying the remaining buildings should be turned over this summer, so hopefully we can put all of our plans into action.

I added more information about the open house at the Diana Site this Saturday. I hope to see you all there.

I also fixed the directions to the Concept Center. It appears that they were actually directions to the still boarded up Marconi Hotel, and there were no directions to the Diana Site. Hopefully there will be less confusion now.

I've also update the thank you page. The donation forms don't always find there way into my hands, so I apologize if anyone is missing still.

I've just updated the calendar. I'm still waiting for our partner organizations to give me the dates of their meetings and events so I can post them.

The grant for our Black History Exhibit was handed in Monday. The Brookdale Art Club is already busy designing the mural.

We had a very productive board meeting last night. We should be having another meeting soon to talk about creating new committees.

I updated the Calendar page and I'm working on putting our August newsletter (which was never mailed) on our (as yet nonexsistant) Members Only page. That should be up in a day or two. If anyone is interested in helping create the January newsletter please email me.

I just added a sitemap (the number of pages is getting out of control). There is a link from the menu bar, or you can type in www.infoage.org/webpages/sitemap.html. You'll notice that not all of the pages are linked yet (I only linked to the major pages so far) and the Camp History page is missing from the sitemap. If anyone wants to finish the page and email it to me I would be very greatful. It doesn't require any web authoring skills, it's no more difficult than using MS Word.

I believe we finally have a sponsor for our mini grant. We need someone to help us write the proposal. It sounds really complicated, but it isn't. We're looking for someone with good writing skills who can look over our plans and give us feedback. We would normally do this through the board, but our director has yet to give me their contact information and the next meeting is only days before the grant is due. We'd appreciate any help we can get.

Also, I would like to remind everyone again that they can submit things to be added to our calendar page. All parnter events and meetings will be added if you contact our webmaster (me). I try to check the calendar pages for our partners' sites, but I don't always have time.

I met with a student from Wall High School who is interested in making a short film on black history at Camp Evans. The mini-grant deadline is November 18th and we still don't have a teacher to sponsor it. All we need is for a teacher at Wall to submit it with their name along with ours. We'll definatly get our mural and a few displays. We have a good chance at getting a film and posters from students at Wall High School. Once we create the exhibit we can have it travel around to local schools and libraries, as everything has been designed to be movable. If anyone is interested in helping us create our exhibit on black history, contact me at cori@infoage.org.

Make A Difference Day got washed out by the rain. We'll have to try again next year. We'll have a board meeting soon, and then have a general meeting for members, volunteers and anyone who is interested to divide people up into project teams. We finally got it in writing that the Army will replace the sewers, and the word is in the air that we will get the Marconi Hotel in the Spring. We'll have exhibits in both cottages and possibly the Diana site for February, and we need volunteers to make sure everything happens.

Yesterday the director and I visited Mr. Grabbe. I took the train out and spent the day going through the collection to pick out slides to display as part of our beauty in technology exhibit and getting Mr. Grabbe to explain what each picture was of. The director drove out later and we loaded up the car with pictures and other artifacts. The collection is amazing, this was the first time I saw it. Thanks to Mr and Mrs Grabbe for having me over. We need volunteers to number each item in the collection and record what it is. If any one is interested in computers and technology I'm sure they would find it every interesting.

I just met with the Brookdale CC Black Student Union. They are interested in doing a fundraiser for No Short Climb and helping us create an exhibit for Black History Month. I'm currently working out the details with the BSU President and Director of Fundraising. The art teacher at Wall Central School has agreed to have her students work on a mural for black history that we can display in our exhibit. It would be great if this all works out.

We just got back from Archives and History Day at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters. Over 70 groups had tables set up, and Infoage was one of them. I should have a page up soon with pictures of the event.
